Ok Lets try this again. I am planning to go to the NC Mountains next year preferably sometime after May. Yeah again, it may seem early to talk about going but as we all know planning makes for a great trip. I usually stir up the buzz early so that people know about it and can prepare $$ for the trip. Plus, planning earlier gives everyone a better chance of going verse rushing at the last minute.
Here is a breakdown of the trip:
Leaving either Friday noon'ish or Saturday break of dawn -- coming back Saturday/Sunday.
(A date has not been set yet but it will be after May) (Date shoUld be set in late NOVEMBER early DECEMBER).If you plan to trailer bike up to the gap please let us know it you would want to volunteer some spots for others to trailer the bike.
(A date has not been set yet but it will be after May) (Date shoUld be set in late NOVEMBER early DECEMBER).Total Cost of Trip to Save for Averages $420-$500Gas Avg.:
$100 for the week (high balling)
if you plan to ride the whole way (BALLZIE) --
$130 roundtrip + (add) gas for play time.
Lodging will depend on where we decide has a good rate and is likable as well. Will post some places. We are looking about
$180-$250 per person for the entire week. Some places have a house for rent which would be cheaper or a group rate at lodges. (WILL BE MAKING RESERVATIONS -- )
Here are some places that are in mind:
http://www.cherohalacottage.com $654 (5people +$15 for over 5) has a garage
http://tailofthedragonvacationrentals.com/$1250 a week (6-12 people) with garage
http://www.smokymountainmansion.com/smokymountainmansion/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55&Itemid=74$3750 for the week(18-25 people)
If we have this many people then this is would be our best bet but there are others it is just a suggestion.
Now that is just a few but there are many places to stay that are good i just thought to give you all something to think about.
Some of the area's of interest are as followed:
- Deals Gap area -- For those that may not know what the "Gap" is about (what kind of man?) it consist of the famous route 129, which contains
! Greatness! If that is your thing. - Blood Mountain, if you are into synchronized curving with a buddy (that you trust with your life) then it is cool for that plus it is usually what i do to warm up for the gap.
- Devil's Triangle - a great amount of various curves and elevation changes and is a great alternative with the Gap is crowded.
- Cherohala Skyway -- This is a great place for scenery and has fantastic routes along to the top of the mountains overlooking the Appalachian Mts.
- Six Gap - another good scenic route.
Either way hope you can join us and if any questions

let me know.
